The Social Pit: Community Driven

Blogs, Group, Forums & More

When I decided to relaunch The Social Pit, I didn’t want just chatrooms, I want a social site that encompass a way for people to communicate in multiple ways. I want people not only to feel at home but to know that they can build within a digital community, either public or private. I rebuilt The Social Pit from scratch. I chose to add a mix of what I enjoy and mix it up just to see how it flows.

I look forward, that with time, The Social Pit will grow into a thriving community. Below are a list of features I’ve added. I have a gamers mentality, with that said, I’ll be updating, adding and removing features and taking feedback continually improving. I’m thrilled to have The Social Pit back online. Blogs

Blogs are a means for me to write about what I love most, games. It’s a way to give you my point of view of a game that, either I’m currently playing or have played in the past or an upcoming game; without being one sided. Sure, there’s going to be games that I love, and you’ll hate and disagree with and vice versa. It’s like talking to a friend and giving him my thought of a game. Some blogs are short others are not. However, blogs are not meant to trash or bash anyone, or complain about a particular individual. If you’re the type that hates blogs or have no interest in game or gaming, there’s other components you may like.

Forums

You have two types of forums, public and private. Public forums, anyone can join a forum of interest, create a topic or respond to a topic. Public forums can be posted by The Social Pit, or by public groups you created. It’s a great way to get people engaged in a conversation. Topics can be anything from gaming to local activism. However, private forums are just that, private. locked from the outside world. With private forums, you need permission to join and post your comment.

Groups

Groups are a fantastic way to build a to large communities. like forums, you have public and private groups. With public groups, anyone can join your group as well as leave your group at any time. When you create a group, you have the option to add a forum for that specific group. Private or Hidden groups are fantastic if you want a small tight community of, say, family and close friends or a gaming clan, a guild, a study group, anything you may want privacy for.

With a private group, you can invite or accept/deny request. Everything posted within a private group, stays private with-in the group. like public groups, you can also add a forum for that private group and create topics of interest. However, private does not mean you should put out personal information. I don’t recommend, not just here in The Social Pit but in any social site. However, in private settings you are solely responsible for what you. That’s my personal opinion and I hold strong to that opinion.

Chat Feature

Private messaging enables users to have one-on-one conversations or group chats with other members. This feature promotes personal connections and can be useful for discussing matters that are not meant for public forums.

User Control

Users have control over their interactions. They can add other users as friends or connections, delete their own content (such as posts or messages), and block or report users who engage in inappropriate behavior.

Information Concerning Subscriptions and Donations

Subscription vs. Ads
I have no intentions, now or in the future, of implementing a mandatory subscription model. Support for the site comes by way of ads strategically placed throughout The Social Pit. Donations, on the other hand, are optional. Donations are way to show support for the content on the site. All donations are re-invested in The Social Pit for growth and improvements.
