Written by Back on June 2nd, I wrote a blog on MWII coming to Steam Hype. (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II: Coming to Steam Hype) I didn’t want to fall into the idea that it was and say that it was when I had no validation that Modern Warfare was indeed coming to the Steam Platform. It was all rumor’s.
The last Call of Duty game to be on Steam was World War II. After whitch, every CoD game after WWII was on Activision’s Battlenet store, Black Ops 4, Modern Warfare 2019, Black Ops Cold War and Vanguard. In the past week, I’ve look everywhere for confirmation that MWII was coming to steam, but everything was rumors until, I logged on Steam earlier today. It’s official, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2022 is now on the Steam Platform. Modern Warfare II is the sequel to Modern Warfare 2019.
Currently, there’s two editions in the Steam Store, The Standard Edition which is the base game for Modern Warfare II is going to run for, get this, for $69,99. The Vault Edition is going to run for $99.99. The Vault Edition, will include a Battle Pass 1 Season, + 50 Tier Skips. Early access to the Open Beta. FJX Cinder (First-Ever Weapon Vault) and Red Team 141 Operator Pack. lastly if you purchase the standard addition, later on you can by the Vault Edition Upgrade for $30.00.
Activision is now asking for $69.99 instead of the standard price of $59.99 in the Steam Store. The new price dose not include any additional content other than the base game itself. It’s unlikely that Activision will reduce the standard price to the original $59.99. Since the Modern Warfare release on October, you can wait until Black Friday or Cyber Monday to see if MWII goes on sell for a lower price.
As far as macrotransactions, one can assume that cosmetics will be sold at an expensive price point. I use the word “macro” because nothing is small (micro) when it comes to pricing cosmetics. We see this in Call of Duty Vanguard’s in-game store. If you’re familiar with the pricing of cosmetics in Vanguard, it’ll be no surprise to find more of the same in Modern Warfare II 2022.
