Personal and private means it’s none of your damn business. When it comes to social media, don’t care what platform, you’re responsible for you post. If you have kids, then your responsible for what they post. If the concept of personal or privacy is not understood, then get FUBAR. However, there’s precautions you can alway and should take. For starters, never use your real name. This is why we have screen names.

      Common Sense Steps
I can sit here go on a rant, but that won’t help anyone. Instead, we all can take common sense steps to prevent all kinds of problems. First and foremost, you need to understand that anyone can be looked up, regardless of who’s on your friends list.

      1) Your Person Information: In some cases, you may use your first and last name as a visible username. The majority of the time, we use, what we use to call Screen Names. In gaming, we called it Gamertags. Obviously, you want a screen name that you like and people can pronounce.

      2) Never give out your personal info: This should be a no brainer. There’s social site that offer you the chance to talk about yourself, like a brief introduction. This does not mean to pour out your life’s story. This is more of, what’s your interest and even that should be limited. What you shouldn’t post is what’s important. For instance, your home address, telephone number, cell number, your work address, work number with extension (if applicable), banking information, medical records, family pictures and or family albums, family home videos, your password(s), your email anything or everything that goes on in your personal lives. Why? Again, it’s nobody’s damn business. It’s, you know, Personal, not meant to be shared.

      3) Other things you should take into account, your employer: Your employer may want to know if you have social media. They want to know this not because they like you, they want to know so they can look you up and in most cases. It’s alway a good idea to have a dummy account. Or, just flat out say, it’s none of your business or, deny having an association with any social media. Always keep in mind that privacy is alway important and it should be your number one priority. Everything and anything that it’s personal, should be and needs to be private.

If you have kids that are alway online, for whatever reason, then it’s vital for you to teach them what it personal and private. What can and should not be shared online. This is for there protection as much as you protecting your family, personal affairs and privacy. Schools should take strict measures as to what kids do and go online. It’s alway a good idea to talk to teachers, if not the school principal, and become aware of the procedures and steps they take to make sure your child is safe when going online. Not to mention what steps you can take at home so your kids can be just as safe.

Social Media can take every precaution you can think off. Yet, you, yourself are responsible for what you post. It’s understood that family, friends may live in other parts of the world and social media is a way to share key moments. However, privacy should never be compromised, regardless of how good your intentions may be.
